We at the olifu group make it our task to lay the foundation for a sustainable life at the base, i.e. with children, with our olifu lighthouse principle. The massive decline in biodiversity must be stopped immediately in order to make life possible for future generations.

“We need to stop the depletion of the natural world by being sustainable in all we do. In my perspective, this is the most important task that we as humanity face. If we want to continue living on this earth, we humans are the ones who need to change, not nature. For this reason, our ideals must be our priority above profit.”

Sustainability in the olifu Corporate Group.

When producing our products / concepts, we also turned a few screws in terms of sustainability. For example, we produce 70% of our complete collection in the EU, 35% of it in Germany. Short transport routes reduce harmful greenhouse gases.

Unfortunately, in today's society, a large part of the waste is caused by the high consumption of things that are not actually needed and are sent back or exchanged. Optimal advice is the cornerstone of avoiding this.

The constant optimization of our packaging is a matter of course for us. In addition, our shipping boxes are matched to the product size through the olifu standardization, so that no air is sent to you.

We are working towards paperless offices - that's why you receive your invoices electronically, for example.

The olifu Ecology Pyramid.

The "olifu Ecology Pyramid" clearly shows that we as a company are committed to optimising all of our processes, from production to sales and beyond, in order to live out our sustainable values.

With high-quality products / concepts and the right advice, we guarantee that facilities get the right materials for them. In order to further increase the service life of our products, we offer our vehicle doctor service, for example, in which the vehicles can be serviced by certified "vehicle doctors" and repaired if necessary.

In general, our spare parts service helps counteract a certain throwaway mentality. If a product can no longer be repaired, we try to recycle it as best we can. New products are created from some of them.

Material Fasal.

Most of the products from our KuKo concept are made of Fasal – a wood-polymer mixture that is made from 60% wood waste from the furniture industry (wood chips from the sawmill) and 40% from high-quality polymers through an upcycling process. Wood waste is processed into wood flour, which means that no new wood has to be felled.

Sustainability plays a major role for us. The use of Fasal (FSC waste wood compound) in products contributes to the reduction of the greenhouse potential (Global Warming Potential). Compared to conventional plastics such as ABS, the use of Fasal reduces global warming by a factor of around 10.

Fasal parts are 100% recyclable through shredding and re-production. If the first signs of wear and tear appear and you decide to sort them out, olifu will cover the shipping costs for collected quantities and ensure that the pheasant material is fully integrated back into the ecological production cycle.

That means the material is ground up, processed and used for new olifu products. In this way, we also contribute to reducing waste.

The PEFC certification confirms that forests are managed in a sustainable manner and according to strict standards. It is proof that wood comes from ecologically, economically and socially sustainable managed forests.

Fasal recycling process.

Fasal is not only visually appealing and feels
great, but has another great advantage.
Unlike most wooden toys, Fasal does not require new trees to be felled. Fasal is 100% recyclable and can therefore be reprocessed again and again.

We are pleased to be able to show you the sustainability of Fasal.

Raw Material Beech.

Beech wood is the first choice when using a natural material for children’s toys. Some of the reasons for this include its durability and robustness, as well as its resistance to bacteria (especially when compared with many other types of wood), which means beech wood products have ideal hygiene conditions.

Beech trees are very common across Europe and have a good ecological footprint in the domestic wood industry. Our sustainable beech wood from certified forestry origins is either coated with a colour stain or left as natural wood, and then finished with an environmentally-friendly clear water-based lacquer. This fine finish allows the beautiful wood grain to remain visible.

Raw Material Birch.

The birch wood we use from local cultivation in Europe stands for a good environmental balance due to its short transport routes. European laws also ensure that the birch is cut down sustainably.

Because of the simple light color and the excellent quality, we use some birch wood for our furniture. The layers of wood are glued across the grain. This creates a high degree of stability, which makes products such as shelves, cupboards or tables, which are known from furniture construction, so robust. Our honeycomb and laying plates as well as our tweezers also benefit from this property and are therefore very solid.

Of course, our birch wood products also meet the necessary safety requirements.

Raw Material Bamboo.

Found mainly in Asia, bamboo is a rapidly renewable resource with extensive root systems from which new plants are constantly growing. This means that the whole plant does not die when felled. The woody grasses can reach up to 40 meters in height.

Bamboo is a resilient plant that requires little fertilizer, pesticides or artificial irrigation methods to grow it, which is another benefit in terms of our environment.

It is light and flexible, yet very hard and dense, making it easy to process into robust products such as our spoons.

Away from the throwaway society.

Sustainable materials promote sensitivity to nature. This sustainability and the protection of climate and resources as well as the appreciation of nature and living beings are important aspects of a self-sufficient life, which allows us to focus on the essentials again. We all have to think more sustainably, this is the only way we can strengthen, protect and preserve our beautiful and diverse nature again.
